HVRE Dreams at Lexplay 2017

The HVRE booth at Lexplay Convention 2017

On the weekend of October 21st and 22nd, HVRE got to be a part of Lexplay, again, for their second year, and the turnout was far more impressive than the last! Like with last time, this year we got to have our own section of the convention, to show off all of the hard work we had put in for the past 5 months or so, all accumulating up to this special occasion. With our own booth, Dreams signage, 3 GoogleVR headsets, and 3 laptops running a launcher for 5 different games, we braved the masses of the con, and stayed vigilant through its entirety!

During the two-day event, the different members of HVRE got to take turns hosting the booth, bringing together developers and gamers, alike, showing them what a volunteer group can truly be capable of. We got to show off two different versions of Dreams (one being the original 10 experiences used on one's smartphone and headset, while the other was a more updated, PC version of some of the same experiences from the VR version), so the onlookers could either come on over to sit and relax to use the laptops, or perhaps just grab the QR code for the Dreams application, so that they might play it later on their own time. Either way, all of those who interacted with our booth, seemed to enjoy themselves, leaving with a smile and even a bit of intrigue as to how they might join in on the fun and learning that is our little group.

I, personally had a great time, dressing up with my wife and hosting what seemed like my own booth for the 3 hour stint I got to volunteer for. I met a lot of interested and interesting people, some I had met at previous events, most others I had never met before in my life. But as I said before, everyone I came into contact with seemed to have enjoyed themselves, and I am looking forward to possibly seeing some of them at the next event I'm a part of, or maybe even at one of next HVRE meetings!

Lexplay was the last event HVRE is going to be a part of this year; we typically take off the rest of the year after each convention to give our members some time to reflect, relax, and re-up on their energy reserves for the next project (which should be starting around May - or earlier - of next year). We plan on delving into AR (Augmented Reality - similar to what Pokemon GO did) in 2018 for our next endeavor, and we truly hope to see new members flock to us to get involved in local game development.

Have a wonderful year, viewers, and check out our Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and even back here, occasionally, for any new updates that might come into light; see you then!
