When One Dream Ends, Another Must Begin!

(From left to right) Tim, Shea, Shylo, Bill, Chris, Alex, and Vince take a lunch break after their last Milestone meeting for Dreams

Alrighty everyone out there who has been following our progress for the past 3 months, this is it! During this past Sunday (of the 25th), the peeps here at HVRE had their last Milestone meeting for this season's VR project (called "Dreams") and everyone had something to show off, all in mostly working condition at the time (which at this point, they should all be done). Here is a rundown as to who worked on what, and what their little experience in about:

- Shea ended up working on 4 projects, of which 3 I will mention here. A game called "Bubbles" where you simply pop bubbles to create music, the second game called "Interaction," where you are able to interact with different things for different effects. As for the third "game," Shea helped create the actual virtual reality Museum space (which it's also aptly named), where the player will be able to choose which of the experiences they will want to play.

- Zach and Shylo's (with Shea's help near the end) game called "Shadow Play," where you, as a child hanging out on the bed of your room, play around with lights and objects in the room to bring their shadows to life!

- Chris completed his two games; the first being "Yenen's Tale: Crossroad," a traditional old-school RPG with a couple of VR features implemented. As for his second game, "Sol Mates" places the player into the role of a sun god, cleansing the souls of the dead, so that they may be reincarnated.

- Aeowen's dream-game lets the player be immersed in a space-themed spa, where they will be able to build a galaxy around them using different objects; her game is simply known as "SPAce."

- Dustin finished up his game, adding in more interactive goodies. "Toy Room" allows players to both watch and play with toys that almost seem to have minds of their own; watch the chaos ensue!

- Tim's game, "Air Mail," came out very polished in the end, looking to have a style of its own, and even unique gameplay to match. As a lone postman, it is your job to capture all of the origami birds in the scene, but watch out for momma-bird!

- Vince's game has gone through some iterations, but he decided on finalizing with a type of "racing, physics sandbox" experience he renamed "VR:VR" (which stands for "Vaporwave Racer: Virtual Reality Edition").

- Leonard's game, "Fluffy Water" also got some added features, allowing the player to create their own cacophony of multi-colored fountains in the middle of a bird-immersed park.

We are so excited to have accomplished so much in such a small amount of time, and I personally would like to congratulate everyone on the team who had a hand in any of the 10+ experiences we were able to dish out this year. So much more is going on with this season, though, and don't think you can get rid of us just yet. As mentioned in previous posts, we have a lot more in store for these games, so keep a lookout for future postings of events! And speaking of future events (future, in this case, means in just a couple of hours), we are having a public Playtest Meeting for not only our Dreams games, but for some other local pieces of art as well! Anyone and everyone is welcome, so please come out if you want to experience some awesome games and fun (here is a link to said event: https://www.facebook.com/events/456569598037005).
