Another Successful Testing!

Three more weeks to go and this year's HVRE team will basically have a completed version (or one could say an in-depth beta version) of our VR game, "Mortimer's Mansion" - or "Mansion of Mortimer;" whatever might slightly frighten you more! This past week (for 09/04 - 09/11), as with last week, has seen a lot of work being put into the project, adding in things like new models, textures, scripts, lighting, and yes, even voice acting! We are very excited to bring everyone at this year's LexPlay (a local gaming convention: http://lexplaycon.com/) a new experience - specifically one of the VR kind - and hope that those who are interested will come to our area of the convention to see what we've been working on for months!

More play testing, in the works! (from left to right: Leonard, Vince, Shea, and Zack)

As for the "update portion" of this post, as I had mentioned earlier, we were able to integrate some new systems and puzzles, successfully altering the game from a 5-player experience to a single-player one, with random puzzles that alternate whenever a new player enters the game; and it seems to work flawlessly, for now! We actually got some more play testers in this past Sunday, as well, and they were able to give us some outside insights into what was good, what could be better, and one of them were actually able to break some of the puzzles in our game, which gave us an opportunity to fix what we thought was not entirely "broken;" we are grateful to Cody and Zack for taking time out of their day to come and help us! Also on the subject of things that could be potentially broken, considering all of the major changes we had to make in the past two weeks, we don't have too many things that needs to be repaired, luckily (except for our "hints system," among some other minor things). Onto other points of interest, some of the HVRE team got to present the project to the people over at Awesome Inc, during their fourth, and last, Hurdles presentation (basically a slow game jam over a period of 6 weeks, hosted by the people at RunJumpDev), and it was a complete success; we hope to see some of those who had attended at our area during the convention! Also, we still have lots of work to do here and there, tightening up some loose ends in the game, understanding our role and spot for the actual convention, and possibly even adding in certain dreadful but awesome surprises in the game, time permitting.
