LexPlay (a local gaming convention for Lexington, Kentucky) is less than two months away, and everyone in HVRE, RunJumpDev, Super Soul, and the rest of the local gaming scene is getting pumped and ready for what should be an awesome weekend of fun and friends! With that being said, the HVRE team (yours truly) is very busy with with our new VR game, called "Mortimer's Mansion;" we are 3 weeks deep into a game jam program called Hurdles, we are feverishly planning for the LexPlay event, and we are also amidst the first playable beta version of our game, changing and updating things as we go!

More on the topic of what exactly we got done this past week (for 08/29 - 09/04), and what we hope to accomplish for this new week: some of the team was able to set up the Vive down in one of our member's spacious basements, where they were able to add in new and freaky textures, new assets (like decrepit furniture and the like), and new scripts that will hopefully solve our hints and checkpoint systems we have been working on for a while now. Other than the secret meeting in the basement, our team was also able to come together Sunday to discuss, in depth, how the new version of the game will be played out (where we are now creating a single player experience, rather than a 5-player, 50-minute experience - which we feel at this juncture will be a lot better), how old puzzles are being revamped and moved around the room, and we also discussed some new puzzles (or new variations or combinations of older ones) and how they would work into our updated game space.
Other updates include us extending the game space to a full 15x15', adding in new ambient lighting and background features (as you can see from the first picture posted), giving one of our newest members, Bill, a crack at helping revamp one of the older puzzles I mentioned earlier, and we came to find out that some of Shylo's boot camp work group will be coming in at the end of this week to help test a revamped and creepier version of what we have tested before.
We here at HVRE are all getting rather excited and determined to bring an amazing virtual reality experience, and hope that we will see all of you there, coming at the end of October! Check this site out for more information regarding the entire convention (http://lexplaycon.com/)!
