One Step Back, Two Steps Forward

This week (for 08/01 - 08/07) has been very busy for all members involved, trying to focus and finalize some very important aspects of the first playable version of "Mansion of Mortimer;" that will either make or break the game, in which we are determined for the latter! Our core programmers have been diligent in trying to create simple, but varied systems that will be able to handle save points, jump scares, and puzzle hints, all within a type of "check point" system that will hopefully manage the background aspects of the game and its many puzzles; so that this year's HVRE will not be nearly as manual as last year's, if at all!

As for some other details, Vince was able to create a script that could complete each puzzle at just the touch of a button (which will be melded into our 3-tiered hint system that I just briefly mentioned), Leonard was able to create and code a placeholder book stand for one of the later puzzles in the game (and it works flawlessly, I might add), our concept artist from Indiana has begun drawing up the main family members of Mortimer (in which will be used for various parts of the game, puzzles included), and our modelers are still hard at work at creating better, textured versions of some of the current models!
The only "drawback" to this week's meeting was that after a good 2 hour discussion on Sunday about various systems that still aren't working conjointly, just yet, we decided it would be best for all involved if we pushed back the first play testing day to an extra week (making the 21st of August our new, official date for the time being, instead of this coming Sunday - the 14th). We figured since certain parts were still in the works, that schools for almost all grades were also starting back around the middle of this week, and that other various things didn't seem truly "Alpha," that we'd give everyone involved an extra week to perfect what we are working on, and shoot for a somewhat later date.
With that in mind, we are still looking for even more play testers willing to be involved in an awesome and local VR project that will both help our game become even better, and perhaps even give those who are interested an opportunity to delve into video game development! If you feel you are definitely an interested party, please feel free to follow the link below, follow the giant arrow on the front page, then fill our a simple form that will tells us all we need to know about you! We will then contact you before the 21st!

Thanks to everyone who has involved themselves and their time to this local project, and we can't wait to show it off at this year's LexPlay convention in Lexington, Kentucky (http://lexplaycon.com/)!
